My brother Mark and future sister-in-law Tor are both members of Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT).
They and their volunteer colleagues give up their time to help people in need. As Mark says:
We are all volunteers and rely on charitable donations to carry out our role. You may never go to mountains, but you may be surprised as to what we do – urban searches, ambulance cover, rural searches, rescues, and more. You may well come across us any way!
The team attended more than 130 call outs last year to casualties and the emergency services requiring help from their specially trained team of volunteers. However they have outgrown our base and are fundraising for a new, more suitable premises.
They have secured the land for their new base and are now fundraising to actually construct the new building.
Amongst many other activities they’re taking part in the Natwest CommunityForce competition – where you can vote for them to receive £6,000 from Natwest towards their new HQ.
It only takes a couple of minutes to register on the CommunityForce site and vote for the team – just click on the link below, register your details and place your vote. If you find this blog useful, I’d be very grateful if you could give the team your vote and help them help others in Lancashire and Yorkshire.
