Simon Wakeman - marketing, public relations and digital communications

Simon is an analytic and strategic thinker who is able to communicate his ideas and insights clearly. He was able to bring unique and important perspectives on customer touchpoints to the various teams we worked within…and was always able to motivate for successful new customer programs based on robust data. Rajhev Rajkumar

Simon’s core strengths were around being insight led, marketing and experience planning, and successful delivery. Simon led the ‘paperless credit card agreement’ strategy and agreed a solution which met the needs of all the stakeholders…the 1st solution of it’s kind at the time in the UK market and widely adopted by the industry since. Mike Beddington, Egg

…I was very impressed with the forward thinking and attention to detail Simon displayed…he thinks projects through carefully but quickly and has a good rapport with a wide range of people, from senior politicians and officers through to colleagues and his own staff. Malcolm Triggs, Go4 Marketing and Public Relations

When I worked with Simon I found him to be postive, forward thinking and a pleasure to work with. Mark Pearson

Head of Marketing - Medway Council

Hello - welcome to my website.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you find my site useful.

November 2007 onwards

During 2007 I led a comprehensive review of all council marketing activities. This review was intended to ensure that the council’s marketing was as strategic and effective as possible. The recommendations of this review were adopted in full by the council and in November 2007 I took on the role of Head of Marketing.

In this role I am responsible for all council marketing, web and graphic design activity. Since taking on the role I have managed a transition of the marketing team, merging the existing team with marketing staff from throughout the council. I have since led the restructure of the team to ensure it is well placed to deliver the council’s marketing needs in the ever-evolving marketing environment.

I have put in place new planning techniques to ensure that marketing activity is joined-up throughout the team and supports the council’s strategic objectives as well as business targets for individual services within the council.

I am leading the development of the council’s direct and digital marketing capability, taking advantage of the customer information already held in customer management systems and improving our marketing data analysis capabilities. This represents a significant step forward for our direct marketing activities which had been limited in scope.

In this role I also work closely with managers in service areas throughout the council. Effective relationship management is vital to ensure the new structure for marketing delivery works effectively and delivers benefits to the council and its customers.
