Testing the new Windows Live Writer
Friday, June 1st, 2007 at 10:00 pm
Hello - welcome to my website.
On my blog I write about marketing, public relations and digital communications. To keep up-to-date with my posts you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or sign-up to receive blog posts by email.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you find my site useful.
This is my first post using the new beta version of Windows Live Writer.
I usually use the Wordpress web editor to write posts, but increasingly now I am offline for periods of time and want to be able to write blog posts then.
The interface and range of functionality on this version of WLW is impressive - I used the original beta for a while, but grew frustrated with regular problems uploading to my Wordpress blog.
It’ll be interesting to see how this one fares - it’s certainly a worthy competitors for the other offline editors I’ve tried such as Ecto, Blogjet and Qumana.
I’m running Wordpress 2.2 on PHP 5.2.2 / MySQL 5.0.24 - no problems so far with getting WLW to configure with the Wordpress installation, and I guess if you’re reading this then I haven’t had the same problem as Neville had with XML-RPC.

I use Live Writer because it enables me to store ideas via the BlogIt tool and it is so much easier to write and format when offline. I also like the way it can simply pick up the design of your blog even when you have more than one with Wordpress.

Four days on and I’m loving WLW even more - there’s nothing I dislike about it, and it makes posting to Wordpress so much simpler.
I’m a convert!
